Our Analysis and Test Results

Design And Build Quality
The LG UP7500 smart TV comes with an entry-level design with a decent appearance and builds quality. Though it doesn’t provide a premium look but good enough to enhance your interior.
The bezels are not thin as the LG UP7720 series models. The size of the bezels goes 12mm around the top and sides whereas the bottom goes 15mm.
The overall finish is rocky black and stands on two strong plastic stands with a height of 65mm and a gap of 780mm (between two stands) so that you can place a sound bar easily.
The back is fully covered and made of decent quality plastic that comes with wall mounting screw holes. The inputs are provided on the panels back left as you face the screen.
The inputs are provided in a combination of rear and side facing so it may be difficult to access if you plan to wall mount but primarily used inputs (HDMI & USB) are side facing.
Picture Quality
Contrast
LG UP75 has a low contrast ratio that’s why black will appear as dark grey in the dark room. The TV doesn’t have a local dimming to enhance contrast. But 50” and 70” of LG UP7500 series have better contrast ratios and excellent dark room performance due to VA panels.
Local Dimming
The TV doesn’t have a local dimming feature. But still, it generates decent blacks with minimal blooming. Keep in mind we are not comparing its contrast ratio with any VA panel TVs, we are happy that it is an IPS panel and produces good blacks whereas blacks will look dark grey while watching in a dark room.
SDR & HDR Brightness
We have tested a peak brightness of 334 nits in HDR with a 10% window and in Dynamic mode (full field pattern) which is quite good. Whereas HDR brightness was the same in the ‘Game Optimizer’ Picture Mode also.
The SDR peak brightness with a 10% window reaches up to 300 nits which can be considered as ok. Whereas variation in peak brightness in different scenes is very minor.
Grey And Black Uniformity
The LG UP7500 4K UHD Smart TV has passed the grey uniformity test quite well. We didn’t find any uniformity issues like brighter patches in the center or darker corners.
Whereas black uniformity is not very good due to the low contrast ratio the screen looks bluish. But LG UP7500 series 50 inches and 70 inches have better black uniformity.
Viewing Angle
The LG UP75 has a good viewing angle which is important for wide seating arrangements. A wide viewing angle promises to deliver perfect image quality from an extreme angle.
IPS panel wide viewing angle quality provides accurate colors and a little bit decrease in the brightness that causes fading of the image and looks washed out.
But keep in mind that 50 and 70 inches of LG UP7500 series are established on VA panel and have a terrible viewing angle so they are not recommended for wide sitting setup.
Learn more about IPS and Va panels.
Reflection
The LG UP7500 has a good reflection handling. The screen is coated semi-gloss and can reflect direct light a bit. But this TV is best to use in average lightroom as it cannot defeat glare from very bright light.
Color Gamut And Color Volume
The TV has a decent color gamut. It covers 100% of the BT.709 gamut required for the SDR. Though it doesn’t have the wide color gamut still covers 86% (good value is 90%) of DCI-P3 color space that is required for HDR content.
The color volume of the TV is average but not enough to fill the color gamut in HDR so bright colors are not pure bright and dark saturated colors can’t be displayed well due to the low contrast ratio.
Note: There is no indication of temporary image retention and permanent burn-in risk.
Quality of Different Video Formats
Different video formats are upscaled perfectly by LG UP7500 4K UHD smart TV. There was no issue in upscaling SD contents and 720p, 1080p (Blu-ray or game console), and 4K video content is also upscaled very nicely.
Motion: Response time And Refresh rate
The LG UP75 has a response time of 15.8 seconds which is decent. But due to the permanent low-frequency flicker image duplication can be noticed. The TV has the motion interpolation at 30fps but not at 60fps which means 30fps content can be interpolated up to 60fps but 60fps content cannot be interpolated to 120fps.
The TV is nearly free from stutter due to slow response time and can also remove judder from 24p content. The LG 7500 has a refresh rate of 60Hz and doesn’t have a variable refresh rate but still managed fast pace content without adding excessive blurring.

It is very disappointing that the LG TV has only 2 HDMI it is difficult to have multiple connectivities. But the good is that it supports eARC on HDMI which allows you to use Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbar through a single HDMI connection. The TV has a very low input lag which is good for gaming.
Sound Quality
We think the sound quality of the LG UP7500 4K UHD Smart TV is decent for basic use. The LG TV has a good front sound stage, clear dialogues, and commentary.
You can tune the TV sound output according to its installation standing or wall mounted. LG’s AI Acoustic Tuning provides users the facility to tune the sound according to their requirements.
LG provides various sound modes with the Clear Voice feature and AI Sound Pro to get a better sound quality by psychoacoustic processing.
The frequency of the television is decent you will get clear and loud voice-overs but doesn’t have much bass. The distortion levels are also ok you will not feel much in moderate and max volume levels unless you are an expert with a well-trained ear.
So, if you are planning to purchase the TV for regular use then dedicated speakers are enough but if you are planning for bigger requirements that include more volume and deeper bass then a soundbar is recommended.
Smart Features

The LG UP7500 comes with LG webOS smart system as the company’s higher-end models. The smart interface comes with a full home screen page and it is easy to use but not without the magic remote.
In the top portion, you will find three blocks with information and in the down, you will get rows with one on Trending programs, new releases, specific streaming services, and various apps.
You will find ads and suggested content over the home screen like other smart TVs but the problem is you cannot disable them. You can cast your Android and Apple phones as it supports Apple Airplay 2.
LG’s smart webOS support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and a great collection of apps in LG’s app store with nearly all streaming service that you can imagine.
Remote
The remote size of the LG UP7500 4K UHD Smart TV is medium. LG UP75 doesn’t come with a magic remote it is available but you have to buy it separately.
In the package, the basic remote is provided that comes with dedicated buttons for popular streaming services. The remote doesn’t have a mic for voice control. We suggest you buy a magic remote if you want to get another level of user experience.
TV Controls
TV controls come with a single button at the bottom of the television right under the LG logo. That can be utilized to turn off/on, change channels, adjust volume, and switch inputs.

Comparison With Other TVs
LG UP7500 is decent entry-level television. The TV is best for watching sports and TV serials but movie watching in the darkroom is not very well as blacks appear dark grey. Sony 43X74 has the advantage in a few areas over LG UP75 but it is quite similar to Samsung crystal 4K Pro.
